Is there a particular issue that motivates you, and if so, what is it?I am a first time candidate motivated by our children's inate curiousity to learn supported by the various methods of teaching. While technology is a necessary and welcomed advancement,it should be integrated with live social interaction programs that stimulate social growth also.If you are an incumbent, describe your main contributions. Tell us of important initiatives you've led. If you are a non-incumbent, tell us what contributions you would make.I am a non-incumbent. My contributions are to merge new technologies with hands on tactile learning programs beginning with the early learning ages upward. It is important for learners of all ages to create and exchange ideas via group interaction and play. Developing social skills alongside technology is becoming increasingly necessary to bridge and improve future communication methods.Do you have a library card? How long have you had it? How often do you use it?Yes. I have had a library card for 6 years as a new resident of Barrington and use it weekly.Space is an issue at many libraries. If that's the case at your library, would your solution be to expand the physical plant or make room by doing away with parts of the collection that technology has made less critical? Explain.Barrington Library has just expanded to balance just this issue. Collections have remained, while on the first floor, technology is alive with pods for work and meetings and an open space for discussions. How should its role in the community change?The impact of economic and technological changes will always impact libraries. The key each time this happens is to reacess where and what specific area is being impacted and tweek the changes needed to keep information relevant. Libraries should always play a prominent role in their community. How we are defining their role is everchanging. The constant in this change should be always engaging, educational, and welcoming to all.What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?Reinvention is the key to success and change is it's constant tool is a personal belief I live by.
