Students explore artist's technique at Lake Villa library

Kids in grades fourth through sixth used layers of cut paper to create an imaginary book cover as they explored the technique of artist David Wisniewski on Monday at Lake Villa District Library in Lake Villa.

The six-week program called Artful Inspirations explores the background of famous illustrators and allows students to try out their mediums.

"Every week the kids are introduced to an new artist and new technique, said Julie Bachinger, youth services associate at the library. "I try to mix it up so that even returning students learn new techniques."

Wisniewski was an writer and illustrator who created his art solely with cut paper and is best known his children's books.

Lake Villa District Library will offer the same program for kids in first through third grades in two or three weeks after the end of the 4-6 program.
