Maine Twp. appoints assistant director of Emergency Management

Marvin Michnik has been appointed Maine Township's assistant director for the Office of Emergency Management. The Niles resident has been a volunteer for the office for 16 years. He fills the vacancy left by Dagmar Rutzen when she was promoted to the director position following the death of Robert Cohen. Michnik previously served as the office's captain and communications supervisor. He has also worked for Skokie Civil Defense, Northern Cook County Skywarn and Red Cross Disaster Services. His hiring was confirmed by the township board of trustees this week.
