Cavaliers, Pistons to have new faces for Tuesday's game

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) - The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed veteran center Kendrick Perkins, while the Detroit Pistons have Tayshaun Prince back on the floor for the first time in two years in Tuesday night's game between the teams.

The 30-year-old Perkins was picked after being waived by Utah. He had been with Oklahoma City since 2011 and was sent to the Jazz in a three-way deal at the trading deadline. Utah waived him two days later, allowing him to come with Cleveland, and he will split time with Timofey Mozgov at center.

The Pistons picked up point guard Reggie Jackson for two players and two draft picks as the third team in the Jazz-Thunder trade and also traded two players to Boston for Tayshaun Prince. Jackson debuted in Sunday's win over Washington, but Prince was playing his first game for the Pistons in two years.

The trades left the Pistons with two empty roster spots. They filled one by signing D-League star Quincy Miller, who was in uniform against Cleveland. They also picked up forward Shawne Williams, who wasn't in uniform.

Miller was averaging 25.3 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3.6 blocks in Reno's speedy offense. In 65 NBA games over three years, he has averaged 4.4 points and 2.5 rebounds.

The 29-year-old Williams averaged 6.6 points and 3.2 rebounds in 44 games for Miami, but was sent to New Orleans in the deal that brought Goran Dragic to the Heat from Phoenix. The Pelicans waived him on Sunday, and the Pistons were awarded his rights earlier Tuesday.
