Einstein drops by Bartlett library in 'By the Numbers'

The Presidents Day holiday provided an opportunity for a group of children to be entertained on their day off school when Albert Einstein dropped by the Bartlett Public Library to explore fun with numbers.

The original musical, "By the Numbers," a Face to Face theatrical production, is based on Einstein's desire to help his distant relative, 10-year old Eddie, who does not feel that his math homework is relevant or important.

Kids were entertained as Eddie (David Korvatkowski) scoffed at the idea he would need to understand numbers in any career choice he was considering - including detective, star athlete and hip-hop artist. At this point, Albert Einstein (Mark Grimsich) used his "Theory of Relativity" to travel through time to help Eddie appreciate the need for numbers in his life. He then used his alternate theory, the "Theory of Relevance," and arranges visits from the GR-8 Enumerator, Adam Up and Mama Meter to help both Eddie and the audience explore the fun it is possible to have with math.

Through engaging dialogue and song, the audience was able to participate in an interactive, musical show in which Eddie is convinced to look at math in a whole new light and begins to understand its relevance to everything he hopes to be.
