Metro West Council hosts legislative breakfast Feb. 24

Metro West Council of Government, a nonprofit organization that represents municipalities in Kane, Kendall and DeKalb counties, will hold its annual legislative breakfast on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at Gaslite Manor, 2485 Church Road in Aurora. Registration and breakfast begin at 7:30 a.m. The program start at 8 a.m.

State legislators from the area have been invited to meet with mayors and managers to discuss legislative issues of importance to municipalities.

To date, the following legislators have confirmed that they will attend: state Representatives Steve Andersson, Linda Chapa LaVia, Tom Demmer, Michael Fortner, Stephanie Kifowit, Anna Moeller, Bob Pritchard, Tom Tryon and Keith Wheeler and state Sen. Karen McConnaughay.

Metro West members will present its legislative positions for 2015 and will discuss issues such as the need to protect local government revenues and the impact of unfunded mandates. Legislators will also have an opportunity to share their perspectives on the challenges of the upcoming legislative session. Approximately 125 elected officials and staff and business partners are expected to attend.

Event sponsors include Comcast and ComEd at the Gold level and Robert Arthur Land Company and Sikich, LLP at the Silver level.
