Antioch moves on; Lakes bows out

Amy Reiser had 18 points, 10 rebounds and 8 steals, as Antioch's top-seeded girls basketball team defeated St. Viator 59-39 in the Class 3A Wauconda regional final Friday night.

Despite fouling out, Ashley Reiser had 11 points and 5 assists for Antioch (28-3), which won its second regional championship in a row. The Sequoits advance to their own sectional and will play No. 5 Regina Dominican at 6 p.m. Tuesday in a semifinal.

Erika Gallimore had 9 points for Antioch. Coach Tim Borries praised center Carly McCameron (7 points, 13 rebounds) for her "senior leadership" in keeping her team composed in a game that was riddled with fouls.

Antioch led 25-14 after one quarter, 39-17 at halftime and 50-28 after three.

North Chicago 50, Lakes 38: At Chicago Northside, the second-seeded Warhawks ended the season of No. 7 Lakes.

North Chicago will play No. 3 Vernon Hills at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the second sectional semifinal at Antioch.
