Wind chill warning again (minus 30!) this morning

The National Weather Service of Chicago has issued a new wind chill warning for this morning, saying the wind chills in the suburbs could hit minus 30.

The warning is in effect from 1 to 8 a.m. Friday. Wind chills of minus 20 to minus 30 are expected.

“This will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken,” the warning says. “If you must venture outdoors, make sure you wear a hat and gloves. Bring pets indoors.”

At 5 a.m., the temperature at O'Hare was minus 6.

The warning comes after one for Thursday morning that shut down some suburban schools.

After the cold morning, Friday's high is predicted to shoot all the way up to around 20. And then Saturday's high is forecast around 32. But snow is expected Friday night and Saturday, with a total covering maybe around 2 inches.
