Pipeline is safest way to move oil
When discussing the pros and cons of President Obama's veto threat of the recent Congress-approved legislation of the Keystone Pipeline, I remind my liberal friends that their environmental argument against final approval of the pipeline is considerably flawed at best.
In addition to the benefits of creating temporary and permanent jobs, and reducing our dependence on foreign energy sources, moving oil through pipelines like Keystone is infinitely safer than trains or trucks.
As the train disaster polluting the Kanawha River in West Virginia tragically proved, how can environmentalists continue to support the movement of oil through towns and cities via rail or trucks? I also wonder how much oil is being moved via trains though our local communities?
