Wheeling man pleads guilty to abusing teen

A Wheeling man hired to take care of a 13-year-old boy pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting the teen and was sentenced to four years in prison Wednesday.

Eric Levin, 23, pleaded guilty to aggravated criminal sexual abuse. He was ordered to register as a sex offender and to pay $694 in fines, court records show.

Authorities say Levin was working as an after-school assistant and a summer camp counselor at Jefferson School in Niles when he met the victim. He left the school's employ in April 2012 and began working as the boy's baby sitter, authorities said.

From summer 2013 to early spring 2014, the teen sometimes slept over at Levin's Wheeling residence, where police say the abuse occurred.
