Adler Center welcomes musical ensembles in concert

The David Adler Music and Arts Center Concert Series will host performances by two Chicago-based ensembles this winter.

"We're delighted to bring these diverse Chicago ensembles to the North Shore," said Heather Williamson, program coordinator. "It's a great opportunity to hear world-class music in your own backyard."

Lyra Guitar Quartet will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at the David Adler Music and Arts Center. The group, which began playing classical guitar together at Northeastern Illinois University, offers a fresh take on classical music. They explode the traditional classical guitar repertoire by adapting classical pieces written for other instruments and rarely heard selections for classical guitar.

Los Alquimistas will perform at 7 p.m. Friday, March 6, at the David Adler Music and Arts Center. This quartet melds traditional Afro-Peruvian, bossa nova, and reggae tune with their urban perspective for an energetic evening of hot sounds and smooth vocals.

Tickets may be purchased online at www.adlercenter.org or by calling (847) 367-0707. Seating is limited and early booking is recommended. Student tickets are $10; $15 for Adler members; and $20 general admission.
