Bartlett taking orders for replacement trees

The village of Bartlett is taking orders on a first-come, first-served basis for new trees that will replace those removed because of the destructive emerald ash borer.

Homeowners and the village split the cost of the replacement program. This year, Bartlett is offering a larger number of trees and more species. Some varieties are already sold out. Too see what's left, visit village.bartlett.il.us.

If you're a resident with a tree removed from your parkway or you have the space, you're eligible for a new one. Each tree, measuring 2 inches in diameter, costs $50.

Mail order forms and checks, payable to the Village of Bartlett, to Parkway Tree Program, Bartlett Public Works, 1150 Bittersweet Drive, Bartlett, IL 60103. Forms must be received by May 1.

Trees ordered in the spring should be planted by June 30. The program will be available again in the fall. For details, call the public works department at (630) 837-0811.
