Sign up for Mundelein police academy

Residents interested in learning about the Mundelein Police Department and how it operates are invited to participate in the Mundelein Citizens' Police Academy on Wednesday, March 11, at 7 p.m. Classes will run every Wednesday for 10 weeks, with a graduation ceremony May 13. Classes will be at the Mundelein Police Department, 221 N. Lake St. The village has offered this program since 2003. The academy provides an opportunity for citizens, who live and/or work in or near the village and are between 18 and 55 years of age, to become familiar with day-to-day police operations. Attending the academy will help participants gain a better understanding of procedures, guidelines, responsibilities, demands, personnel, equipment, policies and laws that guide department decisions. For information, call officer Dan Schmidt or officer Sarah Ruffolo at (847) 968-4600. To apply, contact Jenni House at (847) 968-3770.
