Cook County corrections officer charged
A Cook County corrections officer has resigned after being charged with sexual misconduct at Cook County jail, the sheriff's department said in a statement.
On Feb. 4, the statement says, Cook County sheriff's internal investigators began investigating a potentially inappropriate relationship between corrections officer Lotisha Myers, 47, and an inmate in Division II, which houses minimum and medium security male detainees.
Myers was taken into custody last week and resigned shortly thereafter. The investigation was conducted jointly between a unit that investigates crimes within the jail and the sheriff's Office of Professional Review, which investigates and recommends discipline for employee misconduct. Myers is officially charged with custodial sexual misconduct, which is a felony punishable by two to five years in prison.
