Individuals, not government, responsible for needy

In response to Mr. Spencer on Gov. Rauner, I'm not trying to carry the governor's water but the man has made huge donations of his own money to Illinois.

Rauner's not taking a salary or a pension. You can Google it, because I don't need to waste informed people's time. I do agree with your verse, "Treat my most needy as you would treat Me." You nailed it on the head. The word "you" is the answer. The word government is not in that verse or any other verse of the Bible.

You should take care of the poor. You should not be forced by law to send your money to Springfield and let them decide who is in need. This losing battle on poverty has cost trillions of dollars, and we have more people than ever on food stamps.

This is the biggest hoax on "We The People."

We now believe that our government is a charity. Charity begins at home and at church. The best way to serve God is to serve other people.
