Girl Scout Cookie Delivery Day at Lake County Fairgrounds

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lake County Fairgrounds to partner with Local Girl Scout Cookie Delivery

GRAYSLAKE, Illinois, February 11, 2015 - Lake County Fairground management has graciously donated the use of their facility located at 1060 E. Peterson Road in Grayslake to the Girl Scouts for their annual cookie delivery day taking place on Tuesday, February 17, 2015. Their strong and long-standing community involvement has assisted local Girl Scouts with their annual cookie delivery day for more than 25 years.

Several thousand cases of cookies are sold by area Girl Scouts and delivered from the baking company to the fairground facility each year. Volunteers gather there to fill troop orders beginning in the early morning hours and continue throughout the day where troop leaders and cookie managers pickup their girls' orders. The recent cookie selling period (January 2015) elicited more than 6,300 cases equating to more than 76,000 boxes sold. Proceeds earned enable the girls and their troops to reach their community service goals, complete meaningful badge work and experience fun and educational field trips that include anything from camping to trips to Savannah, GA (home of Girl Scout founder Juliette Gordon Low).

Local Girl Scout Service Unit Manager, Tina Dearinger says, "We are pleased that the long-standing partnership with the Lake County Fairground facility continues and helps this delivery process run so smoothly each year."

Customers are encouraged to visit www.girlscoutcookies.org to find cookies available in their areas. The cookie selling program focuses on building skills in the following areas: goal setting, decision making, business ethics, money management, and people skills.

Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana impacts the lives of more than 61,400 girls and nearly 21,000 adult members in 245 communities in six Illinois counties (Cook, DuPage, Grundy, Kankakee, Lake, and Will) and four Indiana counties (Jasper, Lake, Newton, and Porter).
