Enroll Lake County! was launched by the Lake County Health Department and local partners in 2013. Its focus is on educating and enrolling local residents in Medicaid and Health Insurance Marketplace plans. While the Marketplace enrollment period will close Feb. 15, people can apply for Medicaid year-round.

Under the Affordable Care Act, individuals without health insurance coverage will pay a penalty this year when filing income taxes. This does not apply to individuals with health insurance through their job, with insurance directly from an insurance company, or those who are part of a government program, including Medicaid, All Kids, Medicare or a Veterans Affairs (VA) health care program.
