Foster collecting valentines in 11th District

U.S. Rep. Bill Foster is encouraging residents of the 11th Congressional District to decorate valentines for a good cause this year.

Foster's office is collecting cards, letters, drawings and other Valentine's Day greetings from schools, groups and individuals through Monday.

The valentines will be delivered to veterans at the Joliet Community Based Outpatient Clinic, which is run by Edward Hines Jr. Veterans Hospital. Last year, more than 1,500 valentines were delivered.

Greetings can be dropped off at or mailed to either of Foster's district offices. The Aurora office is at 2711 E. New York St., Suite 204, and the Joliet office is at 195 Springfield Ave., Suite 102. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

"This Valentine's Day, I hope our community will once again show our veterans the support they deserve by thanking them for their service and acknowledging their sacrifices," Foster, a Naperville Democrat, said in a statement.

The 11th District covers parts of Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall and Will counties, including Aurora, Naperville, Bolingbrook, Burr Ridge and Joliet.
