Streamwood man gets prison for discharging firearm

A Streamwood man convicted in October of recklessly discharging a firearm was sentenced to two years in prison, court records show.

Prosecutors said Carey Nuyen, 51, fired the weapon about 12:20 a.m. June 23, 2012, at his home following an argument with a relative.

The bullet ricocheted and struck and seriously injured a dog, who was later euthanized because of his injuries, prosecutors said.

Nuyen, who was sentenced last week, received credit for 272 days in custody. He must complete at least 50 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.
