Fremd student charged with sending offensive email

Palatine police Friday charged a Fremd High School senior with disorderly conduct after he confessed to having sent an email message containing an offensive image to student email accounts at both Fremd and Palatine high schools Tuesday, authorities said.

Alec S. Kuznitsky, 18, of Schaumburg has been released on a recognizance bond, requiring him to appear in court at 1:30 p.m. March 10 at the Cook County courthouse in Rolling Meadows.

According to Palatine police, Kuznitsky confessed to a Fremd staff member Friday that he had sent the offensive email. Investigators interviewed Kuznitsky to confirm that he was solely responsible for the incident.

Though the graphic and offensive image was not pornographic, it was considered inappropriate both for its use of a Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211 email account as well as in that students were the intended recipients. Because of these factors, Palatine police were immediately notified and began an investigation Tuesday.

School officials believe that all students at the two schools may have received the email.
