Carmel Catholic High School in Mundelein lands new president
Bradley Bonham will take over as Carmel Catholic High School's president for the 2015-16 academic year.
Officials at the Mundelein Catholic school announced Bonham's hiring Friday. He'll come to Carmel from St. John's Jesuit High School and Academy in Toledo, Ohio.
Carmel Catholic's current president, Sister Mary Frances McLaughlin, said in a statement she "looks forward to working with Brad during this time of transition." McLaughlin, who plans to return to Chicago and volunteer in areas of Christian service, served as Carmel Catholic's president from 1996 to 2006 and returned in an interim capacity in 2014.
"His commitment to Catholic education and experience in administration at St. John's paves the way as he moves to Carmel Catholic to assume the responsibilities of fourth president," McLaughlin said of Bonham.
At St. John's Jesuit in Toledo, Bonham is credited with leading several significant initiatives, such as a one-to-one iPad program and additional Advanced Placement. St. John's has 24 Advanced Placement classes.
"I am very excited to be part of the Carmel Catholic High School community," Bonham said in a statement. "Carmel Catholic has an outstanding tradition and history within Catholic education. I feel very fortunate and grateful to be part of such a great institution."
Bonham, who gained approval from Carmel's board of directors, was unavailable for elaboration Friday. He'll start at the school in July.
Carmel Catholic has an enrollment of about 1,350 students.
