Miss USA Nia Sanchez was the first runner-up Sunday night at the Miss Universe competition in Miami.
Sanchez, a 24-year-old from Las Vegas, lost out to Miss Colombia Paulina Vega.
Contestants from more than 80 countries competed for the title and displayed their hometown pride this week with the national costume show.
