Night life events: Study up on Bell's at Old Town beer dinner

Ringing the dinner Bell

Head back to school — beer school that is — with a lesson on food and beer pairings from Bell's Brewery at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Old Town Pour House in Oak Brook. Menu highlights include truffle popcorn, buffalo shrimp, barbecue pulled pork sliders and peanut butter Snickers pie. Beers on the study guide include Bell's Amber, Bull in a China Shop, Two Hearted and Porter. $30 per person, excludes tax and gratuity. Reservations recommended. Spirits for Spirits

The Field Museum partnered with several Chicago bars and restaurants to put a taste to its current exhibit, “Vodou: Sacred Powers of Haiti.” Taste cocktails mixed to represent the unique personalities of voodoo spiritual beings through the end of February at the following establishments: Bar Pastoral; Barrelhouse Flat; Geek Bar; Henry's Swing Club; Italian Village; Rogers Park Social; The Boundary; The Grafton Pub; and The Signature Room. Visitors who try a Spirits for Spirits cocktail can bring their branded coaster to The Field Museum to receive $5 off admission. The Field Museum of Natural History is at 1400 S. The specials at Spears

Spears drink specials for January include $5 Black and Blue (Guinness and Blue Moon) Mondays; $6 hot toddy (made with Ezra Brooks Single Barrel) Tuesdays; half-priced bottles of wine on Wednesdays; $6 Moscow mules on Thursdays; and $1 PBRs on Sundays.
