Filming for the new Fox television series "Empire" is scheduled to take place throughout the day and night Thursday at the Merkle Cabin at Spring Valley Nature Center in Schaumburg.

The Schaumburg Park District-owned location will serve as the setting of a romantic escape for two of the show's characters. Series star Terence Howard is not expected to be involved.

The film unit will be bringing its own security and hiring the services of Schaumburg police officers not normally scheduled to work during the hours of production.

"It's not the kind of thing the public can come down and watch," said Dave Brooks, manager of conservation services at Spring Valley.

The television series is renting the site from the park district during setup on Wednesday and filming on Thursday.
