UL offers consumers a one-stop for safety issues, recalls
Northbrook-based UL, a safety science company, has launched SafeBee.com, a website that warehouses countless product recalls, alerts, reports on various topics and other consumer information.
Topics include home, health, money, travel, auto, family and others. It's motto is to "make the world a safer place."
"We want it to become the one-stop resource for all things for consumers," said the site's executive editor, Marianne Wait.
UL has partnered with Atlanta-based Mother Nature Network to produce the site, which launched in December. The partners spent the last year developing the project and building the website.
Besides offering news, the site also aims to provide reviews and blogs on various topics. It will draw on a number of contributors, including award-winning journalists, and others. It also has connections to Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites, she said.
Some videos are on the site now, but the editorial team hopes to produce more, she said.
Some of the hottest trends in technology also will be covered, including threats to security, password safety, apps to keep teens safe and wearable technology, she said.
