Mt. Prospect school collects toys for the needy

Lions Park School in Mount Prospect held its annual toy drive Friday, where all students bring an unwrapped gift for children who aren't as fortunate as many of the town's residents.

The Mount Prospect Fire Department collected the toys and placed them in a firetruck for distribution later.

The effort is coordinated by Julie Vowinkel, a longtime Lions Park teacher who retired last year but is continuing to head up the toy drive.
