Detectives seize drugs, handguns from Beach Park house

Three men face drug and weapons charges after a two-week investigation into a suspected drug house in Beach Park, authorities said.

Lake County sheriff's detectives conducted two traffic stops and executed a search warrant Thursday at the house on Waldo Avenue, authorities said.

Detectives recovered 539.5 grams of marijuana, 87.9 grams of heroin, 61.9 grams of powdered cocaine, 14.7 grams of crack cocaine, 10.85 fluid ounces of promethazine (an antihistamine/sedative), paraphernalia, two handguns and $5,041 in cash, according to a sheriff's office news release.

The three suspects charged were:

• Damon D. Duffie, 30, of Beach Park, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver (heroin and promethazine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Duffie also was wanted on an outstanding warrant from DeKalb County for failure to appear in court on charges related to writing bad checks. He is being held in Lake County jail on $1 million bail.

• Dwayne D. Gordon, 28, of Waukegan, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (crack-cocaine, cocaine and heroin), possession of drug paraphernalia, aggravated possession of a firearm, armed violence and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon. Gordon remains in jail on $1 million bail.

• Aaron Swopes, 31, of Waukegan, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (heroin) as well as traffic charges. Swopes is being held on $100,000 bail.
