Cougars, Salvation Army team up to help local residents

The Kane County Cougars front office staff and mascot Ozzie T. Cougar made it a happy Thanksgiving for people Thursday afternoon.

The Cougars organization assisted the Salvation Army Tri-City Corps in handing out frozen turkeys to families from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Joe K. Anderson Community Center on 7th Avenue in St. Charles. The Cougars and Salvation Army purchased 100 turkeys this week as part of the Salvation Army's third annual distribution day.

Cheryl Froehlich, new owner of the baseball organization along with her husband, Bob Froehlich, was on hand for the first time helping out.

“It's always good to give back to the community that you have a business in. The community comes and supports us and we like to be able to support them as well. A lot of people need help, and we're lucky and privileged to be able to help however we can with the support of the Salvation Army and the other outreach facilities in the area,” she said.
