Spellman Bites: Yeah, Bears won the game, but ...
Yeah, they finally won at home.
Yeah, they beat a (weak) division foe.
Yeah, the defense didn't give up 50 points.
But …:
In the big picture, the win doesn't mean a thing except a lower spot in the draft, allowing for the selection of yet another tweener player with potential.
Fantastic!
Having said that:
It was absolutely refreshing to see this team play decent football, wasn't it?
Not great.
Just decent.
Matt Forte:
That run was awesome.
Question:
How in the world does a clock fail at an NFL stadium for that long?
It almost ticks me off as much as the Bears continuing the tradition of hiring coaches with absolutely zero clock-management skills.
Isn't there a class for that or something?
Any solace ...:
In the fact that Green Bay crushed the Eagles 53-20?
Yeah, I'm not sure, either.
Look out now:
Prepare for a week's worth of hype surrounding Lovie Smith's return to Chicago.
If that's not motivation enough for the former Bears coach, consider this: His Bucs are 2-8, yet still only 2 games out of first in the putrid NFC South.
And finally:
Gotta say it: Mel Tucker, good job.
