Mt. Prospect parks officials ask residents to stay off renovated golf course
The construction phase of the renovation project under way at the Mount Prospect Golf Course is nearing its end, and much of the course has been planted with new grass.
Given that, officials from the Mount Prospect Park District are urging residents not to walk or ride bicycles onto the course throughout the remainder of the fall and winter. Even light foot or bike traffic can damage the reseeded areas, officials said, which could delay the reopening of the course.
In a recent report to the park district board, Director of Golf Operations Brett Barcel said most of the course should be ready for play in the summer of 2015.
The park district decided earlier this year to borrow $9 million to renovate the course. Including in the project were new drainage and irrigation systems, an expanded driving range and various improvements to all 18 holes.
