Hit-and-run suspect held on $50,000 bail

A Lake County judge set bail at $50,000 on Monday for a Zion man charged with fleeing the scene of a crash that injured a skateboarder Saturday night.

Epifanio Moya, 28, of the 1200 block of 34th Street, faces felony counts of leaving the scene of an injury accident and failing to report an injury accident, authorities said. He also is charged with driving with a suspended license, a misdemeanor. The most serious charge against him is punishable by a maximum three years in prison.

Authorities said Moya was driving a 2008 Kia Sedona about 7:20 p.m. Saturday when it struck a 16-year-old boy skateboarding along Sheridan Road near Chaney Road in Beach Park. The teen was flown by Flight For Life to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, but was released Sunday, sheriff's police said.
