Waldo, Pinkalicious read to Lake Villa students

Students at Thompson School in Lake Villa had some special guests during their lunch period Monday.

Principal Sandra Keim-Bounds played Waldo of "Where's Waldo?" fame and Lead Teacher Kathie Blasius dressed as the title character of the "Pinkalicious" series as they read books for the entire school from a makeshift family room set.

Kids also were encouraged to dress up as their favorite book character for the special event.

"Our kids certainly had fun as they were greeted this morning by Pinkalicious and Where's Waldo," Keim-Bounds said.

The school is participating in the Book-It principal reading challenge. One elementary school principal will win 101 copies for their library of the ninth book in the Wimpy Kid series, "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul," and receive an autographed copy by author Jeff Kinney.
