$2.4 million for Illinois mental health, addiction treatment
Eleven health centers in Illinois are receiving $2.4 million in federal funding to support mental health and substance abuse treatment.
Health Resources and Services Administration Administrator Mary K. Wakefield announced the funding Thursday. The money is made available through the Affordable Care Act, which expands mental health and substance use disorder benefits to people with health insurance.
Health centers use the money to hire professionals and add mental health and addiction health services.
In northern Illinois, health centers in Chicago, La Grange, Rockford, Aurora and Rock Falls are receiving the funds.
In central and southern Illinois, health centers in Galesburg, Carterville, Sauget (SAW'-zhay) and Springfield will get money.
