Joe Caputo & Sons to open Elk Grove Village store by January

While one grocer is moving out, another is coming to Elk Grove Village in the coming months.

The planned opening date of Joe Caputo & Sons Fruit Market at the former Dominick's has been pushed back to sometime this winter. Company officials would like to open before the holidays, but they're expecting to do so no later than January, Mayor Craig Johnson said this week.

Caputo had previously targeted Oct. 15 as the opening date of its 72,000-square-foot store at 980 Elk Grove Town Center.

Meanwhile, on the west side of town, Johnson said Kroger Co. officials are in negotiations to sublease the 56,600-square-foot store at Meacham and Nerge to another grocer once Food 4 Less closes. Kroger officials announced Food 4 Less would be closing on or around Nov. 8 due to declining sales.
