Blackhawks' Morin gets opportunity to play

Daniel Carcillo may be out as long as a month after suffering a lower-body injury in a collision with T.J. Oshie on Saturday in St. Louis. Replacing Carcillo in the lineup Sunday against Ottawa was Jeremy Morin, who hadn't played since the fourth game of the season.

"Obviously, you never want to see it happen to one of your teammates, but it's part of the game and I'm excited to get back in the lineup," Morin said.

Now it appears he will be back in for a while - as long as the production is there.

"I know he hasn't played a ton yet, but it's an opportunity for him to get going and hopefully get established," Hawks coach Joel Quenneville said. "The better he plays, the more he's going to get."

Morin knows the drill.

"You always want to play as much as you can," he said. "This is another opportunity for me to go out there and play well and prove myself."

A clarification:

This is what Joel Quenneville said about Ryan Reaves' go-ahead goal minutes after Saturday's loss at St. Louis: "I disagreed with the interpretation of how they described what happened."

Quenneville clarified Sunday what exactly he meant.

"I wasn't complaining so much whether it went in or not," he said, "I was looking more at the interference than whether it went in or not."

New pairing:

A night after a Michal Rozsival turnover led to a key Blues goal in a 3-2 Hawks loss, the veteran defenseman was a healthy scratch against Ottawa, replaced in the lineup by David Runblad.

"It's been all right; it's been OK," Joel Quenneville said of Rozsival's play since returning from injury. "He's been playing with a young kid (Trevor van Riemsdyk), and that pair has been pretty good."

He said it:

"I thought there was a lot of emotion to it and it was very well done. A great tribute to the two soldiers."
