$1 million lottery ticket sold in Elmhurst

An Elmhurst gas station sold a $1 million winning Mega Million lottery ticket, but the winner has not yet come forward.

The winner bought his or her ticket using the Quick Pick system at Minutemen Citgo, 218 E. Butterfield Road, Elmhurst, according to a release from the Illinois Lottery.

The winner matched the first five numbers - 05, 35, 37, 41, 66 and power ball 11 in Tuesday night's drawing.

Minutemen will receive a $10,000 bonus, or 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket, the release said.

"It's pretty exciting," said Pam Butler, cashier at the Elmhurst Minutemen. "To think that our store out of all the stores, we sold a million-dollar ticket. It's pretty neat."

The Mega Millions drawing takes place Tuesday and Friday nights at 10 p.m. and the current estimated jackpot is $224 million.

The winner is asked to contact Illinois lottery as soon as possible.
