Crystal Lake teen killed in Lakewood crash
The woman killed Saturday in a fiery rollover crash in Lakewood has been identified as 19-year-old Jacquelyn Paulson of Crystal Lake.
McHenry County Coroner Anne Majewski announced Sunday morning that an autopsy is scheduled for Monday to determine the cause and manner of Paulson's death.
The McHenry County Sheriff's Accident Investigation Unit and the Lakewood Police Department also are investigating the crash, which occurred shortly before 4 p.m. Saturday when Paulson's vehicle collided head on with another vehicle at the intersection of routes 47 and 176 then flipped over.
Bystanders pulled the teen driver from the wreckage and began performing CPR, Woodstock Fire Capt. Brendan Parker said. Before firefighters arrived about 4 p.m., the good Samaritans also tried to extinguish a small fire that ignited after the car flipped over.
Paulson was taken in critical condition to Centegra Hospital -- Woodstock, where she was later pronounced dead.
Two passengers in the minivan were taken to Centegra in stable condition with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, Parker said.
