Police: Haunted house clown was touching visitors

A 23-year-old Algonquin man dressed as a clown is charged with making inappropriate comments and touching visitors at a haunted house in Montgomery, police said.

Robert Keller, of the 0-100 block of Madison Street, an employee of the haunted house, is charged with battery and disorderly conduct, Montgomery Police Chief Daniel Meyers said.

Police received the complaint around 9 p.m. Saturday that a Massacre Haunted House employee dressed as a clown was “saying inappropriate things to customers and touching them on their body with an object.”

Meyers declined to provide any specifics of the encounters saying one victim was a juvenile.

Keller's bond was set at $1,500, of which he posted 10 percent to be released, Meyers said.

Nic Miele, general manager of The Massacre Haunt, Inc., said the haunted house has been running for 10 years without any such previous allegations.

“We make every effort to ensure our Halloween experience is as safe and as scary as possible,” Miele said. “We abide by all regulations, take all allegations of misconduct seriously, and are cooperating with police. All the while, we are committed to continuing our Halloween tradition of fear and fright for many years to come.”
