400 attend Schaumburg Township's 'Fall Into Wellness' Day

Schaumburg Township Clerk Timothy M. Heneghan and officials hosted the third annual "Fall Into Wellness" Community Wellness Day from 2-6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17. The event was sponsored by, Cook County Commissioner (15th District) Timothy O. Schneider and the Illinois Telecommunications Access Corporation, to promote individual health and safety by providing information from over 30 local health vendors and service providers.

This year's event brought together more than 400 participants for an exciting afternoon which included a variety of free screenings, information from local health vendors and service providers, and raffle prizes.

Alexian Brothers Medical Center administered 76 free cholesterol screenings, Village of Hoffman Estates Health and Human Services Department offered flu shots to 44 participants, and Jewel Osco Pharmacy offered pneumonia, shingles and flu shots to 22 participants.

In addition to learning about local health and service providers and receiving free screenings, participants also enjoyed free 10-minute chair massages from Harper Massage Clinic and had the opportunity to donate blood to Life Source.

Sixteen participants won a raffle prize donated by Commissioner Schneider's office, health vendors and ITAC which included gift cards to local businesses such as Olive Garden, Barnes and Noble, and gift baskets filled with health related items.

This year's Community Wellness Day was made possible by the generosity of our sponsors and the many local health vendors such as Alexian Brothers Health Systems, Village of Hoffman Estates Health and Human Services, Jewel Osco Pharmacy, Sam's Club Hearing Center, Life Source, Harper College and many more.
