Gurnee's Fall Festival greeted by fall-like weather

There was plenty of fall-like weather for Gurnee's Fall Fest Saturday in Viking Park.

The free event had plenty to offer, including a pet zoo, tractor-pulled hay rides, balloon artist and stilt walker, pumpkin painting, inflatable obstacle course and costumed characters. The Fraternal Order of Police had food available for purchase.

A highlight of the festival was the scarecrow contest with a down on the farm theme. The contest was open to individuals, families, businesses, clubs and organizations. Voting took place during the event with the winner announced at the conclusion of the festival. The winners received a plaque for their champion scarecrow.
