Rolling Meadows tops Wheeling

Jessie Ligenza and Anna Frantom gave visiting Rolling Meadows a 1-2 finish in the 200-yard IM, and they later provided a 2-3 finish behind teammate Erin Pletch in the 100 breaststroke as the Mustangs edged Wheeling 98-76 in Mid-Suburban East girls swimming and diving on Thursday.

Wheeling's Theresa Godlewski powered to wins in the 100 free (54.46) and 200 free (1:58.28), and Adrienne Rozmus won the 50 free for the Wildcats.

Winners for Meadows included Bailey Rowley in the 100 fly (1:05.11) and Gracy Nykol in the 500 free (6:01.63); the Mustangs used a 1-2 finish in the medley relay to get off to a good start.

Fremd d. Conant: Senior Saki Takumiya won both the 200-meter IM (2:27.40) and 100 fly (1:06.32) with strong midseason times, and Emily Kini had winning efforts in the 50 free (28.62) and 100 free (1:02.53) to help the host Vikings past their MSL West foes.

Senior Erica King won both the 200 (2:13.43) and 400 freestyles (4:41.15) for Fremd.

Diving featured four 200-plus scores, with Fremd's Sarah McTague leading the way at 227.65 and followed by Conant's Emily Weingart (220.80), Fremd's Sydney Plichta (219.40) and Conant's Bailey Hornstein (217.15).

Hersey d. Buffalo Grove: The host Bison got wins from Sarah Morosan in the 200-yard IM (2:18.47) in the 200 IM and 100 fly (1:02.48), but it was pretty much Huskies in everything else as Hersey won 134-52.

Kathryn Lutz won the 50 free in 27.21 while Jenny Lutz won the 200 free in 2:05.76 for Hersey, which won all the relays.

Schaumburg d. Hoffman Estates: The Saxons picked up a win in MSL West action as freshmen Natalia Mack (200 IM, 100 fly) and Ingrid Hay (50 free, 100 back) both won a pair of individual events. Megan Bonney took the 100 and 200 freestyles for the Hawks, and teammate Casey Rawlings won the 100 breaststroke.

Prospect d. Elk Grove: Rachel Rozow won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.97), the 200 IM (2:21.28) and had legs on the winning medley and 200 freestyle relays as the Knights powered past the host Grens 134-47.

Elk Grove had winners in Alyssa Rosenorn (100 fly, 1:08.99) and Sara Lasovska (100 back, 1:07.60).

Barrington d. Palatine: The Fillies used a 1-2 finish in the 200-meter medley relay, followed by a 1-2-3 placement from Emma Toth (2:19.56), Evelyn Ciskowski and Heidi Pallan in the 200 free to take control on the way to a 107-78 victory at Palatine.

Palatine got strong winning times from junior Kristin Anderson in the 50 free (26.96) and 100 free (59.93), along with a 1-2 finish in diving from Elizabeth Johns and Andrea Ori. Other Pirates winners included Tess O'Brien in the 100 breast (1:22.01) and both the 200 (1:54.60) and 400 (4:14.35) freestyle relays.

Freshman Maggie Emary was tops in the 100 back (1:08.95) and 100 fly (1:09.65) for Barrington.
