Highway commissioner sought:

Qualified Libertyville Township residents can apply for the recently vacated position of highway commissioner. Candidates must be a legal voter and a one-year resident of the township. The highway department maintains 30 miles of unincorporated roads and right-of-way and is responsible for bridge and drainage issues, snow and ice removal, maintenance and mowing. The commissioner is responsible for the construction and maintenance of the district's roads and bridges and day-to-day administration. Major duties include managing and maintaining roads, signs, lighting, curbs, traffic signs, developing and managing contracts and the annual tax levy and budget. The person selected will be appointed by the township board and will hold the position until elections are held in April 2017.
