Girls golf / Lake County roundup

Sophomore Simone Mikaelian earned medalist honors with a 37, and Libertyville's girls golf team prevailed over host Stevenson at Crane's Landing to take sole possession of first place in the North Suburban Conference on Wednesday.

After each team carded a 169, the Wildcats were declared the winner thanks to a sixth-score tiebreaker that hiked their record to 11-0, including 6-0 in the NSC.

Megan Sturonas, Maggie Piazzi and Reilly Burnetti each shot a 44 for Libertyville, which also needed Sara Keefe's 46 and Jessica Lovinger's 47.

"Hats off to Stevenson for playing really well," Libertyville coach Greg Pedersen said. "But I'm really proud of our girls. This is a great team victory. Our depth is a very strong asset, and today we were able to use six kids to get the win."

Stevenson (7-1) was led by Myra Peterson's 39. Stefanie Namkoong and Alexia Fidman each carded a 43 for the Patriots, and Olivia Stomberg had a 44.

"It came down to the last group," Stevenson coach Tom Dineen said. "It was a great match."

Grant d. Lakes: At Antioch Golf Course, balanced scoring allowed the Bulldogs to defeat the Eagles 234-238 in North Suburban Conference action.

Grant received 58s from freshman Maddy Lantz and senior Sydney Bell and 59s from Brianna Burgeson 59 and freshman Kylie Diana.

Lakes' Lauren Clark and Taylor Chisolm shared medalist honors, as each shot a 57.

Mundelein d. Warren: At Countryside, the victorious Mustangs (184) were led by Grace Gotlund and Holly Petlak, each of whom shot a 45.

Warren (193) boasted co-medalists Eric Price and Izzy Cordova with 43s.

Lake Zurich d. Antioch: At Spring Valley, Page Wallace's 46 led the Bears (210) to the North Suburban Conference win.

Antioch (258) was led by Hannah Cook's 51.
