Boys soccer: Fox Valley roundup Saturday, Sept. 6

Elgin 2, Nazareth Academy 1 (PKs): Tied after a full 80 minutes of play, the Maroons (3-2) came away with a win on penalty kicks in the Lasallian Cup Tournament on Saturday. Clairian Ajay scored unassisted in the first half to tie the game where it stayed until the penalty kicks. Eleno Montes was in goal and finished with 2 saves.

Crystal Lake South 4, St. Charles North 1: Taking a 2-goal lead into the half the Gators (3-2) cruised to comfortable a 4-1 win over St. Charles North in the Barrington Tournament. Mike Woeste, Kennan Grissom, Orlando Tapia and Andrew Grabowski, who also had an assist, all scored while Charlie Ruff also had a pair of assists. Holding down the North Stars was keeper Dalton Kause who had 2 saves.

Elgin Academy 6, Crossroads 2: A pair of Hilltoppers scored twice as Elgin Academy (3-0) won easily over Crossroads Academy in nonconference action. Julian Romana and Drew Wilmington, who also had an assist, both scored twice along with Karl Rauschenberger and Armin Ward. Goalie Spencer Schael finished with 7 saves.

Bartlett 2, Carl Sandburg 0: A goal early and a late goal clincher helped the Hawks (1-4) pick up their first win of the year in the Best of the West Tournament. Andrew Gott scored on a corner kick in the first half while teammate T.J. Ivkovich scored on a pass from Oliver Saile to seal the deal. Jake Hasenstein (5 saves) and Brian Hollatz (7 saves) split time in goal for the win.

Huntley 2, St. Francis 0: A pair of Travis Walsh goals gave the Red Raiders (1-4-1) their first win of the year in the Lake Park Invite. Walsh scored unassisted in the first five minutes, then once again 40 minutes later from a pass by Mario Veraga. Andrew Fulcer had 2 saves and Michael Parks had 1 save.

Dundee-Crown 2, Hoffman Estates 1: A late goal in the second half lifted the Chargers (5-2) to a nonconference win. Willie Campos scored unassisted in the first half. Ivan Sanchez scored the eventual game-winner on a pass from Freddy Martinez. Goalie Jose Gonzalez finished with 10 saves.

Metea Valley 1, Larkin 0: The Royals (1-3-1) could not overcome an early first-half deficit and lost in Upstate Eight Conference crossover action. Leo Perez finished with 4 saves for the Royals.

Elk Grove 1, Jacobs 0: A lone goal in the first half spelled doom for the Golden Eagles (1-5) as they fell in nonconference action. Eduardo Guimaray had 6 saves in goal.
