Oakton plans community meetings on search for new president

Oakton Community College will host three community meetings next week to gauge the characteristics the college's stakeholders want in a new president.

The college's board of trustees is conducting a search for a new president following the announcement earlier this year that Margaret Lee, who has headed Oakton since 1995, would be retiring in June 2015.

The meetings are planned from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, in Room 1608 on the Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road; from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, in Room P103 on the Skokie campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave.; and from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, in Room 1625 on the Des Plaines campus.

An online survey is also available through Friday, Sept. 12, at www.surveymonkey.com/s/OaktonPresidentialSearch.

Officials say characteristics identified through the meetings and survey will be incorporated in the professional and personal qualifications listed in the position profile.

A final candidate is expected to be chosen by trustees by the end of April 2015, with a start date of July 1.
