An arrest warrant has been issued for a potentially armed and dangerous Beach Park man wanted in connection with a shooting last week, authorities said Wednesday.

The Lake County sheriff's office obtained the arrest warrant for Joshua Malombo, 27, who faces charges alleging he fired shots inside a residence near Green Bay and Wadsworth roads Aug. 29.

The shooting caused schools in Beach Park to be placed on a soft lockdown, authorities said, and bus service was canceled for some students.

Malombo is charged with multiple counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, unlawful possession of weapons by a felon, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, reckless discharge of a firearm, and aggravated assault, sheriff's police said. His bail has been set at $500,000.

Malombo is accused of entering a home on the 38500 block of North Green Bay Road at 6:23 a.m. Friday and threatening multiple people inside. After police were called, authorities said, Malombo fired several shots inside the residence, but no one was injured, authorities said.

Lake County sheriff's deputies set up a perimeter around the home and placed a lockdown on all schools in Beach Park School District 3, officials said.

Deputies later entered the residence and discovered Malombo had run off, police said Authorities continued searching the area until 11 a.m., using a helicopter and a K-9 unit but could not locate Malombo.

The lockdown of nearby schools was lifted at about 11 a.m., authorities said.

Officials said Malombo is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. People are urged to contact law enforcement immediately if he is spotted.
