Naperville police search for daytime armed robbery suspect

Naperville police are searching for a man in his 20s who they say robbed a person at gunpoint Friday afternoon in a parking lot.

Officers were called to the parking lot near 352 S. Route 59 on a report of an armed robbery about 4:10 p.m., police said in a news release.

According to a preliminary investigation and witnesses, the victim was walking in the parking lot when he was approached by the suspect, who was armed with a handgun and demanded the person's wallet, police said. The victim immediately surrounded it, and the suspect then ran to a nearby waiting car.

The man, wearing all dark clothing, was last seen fleeing the area on Route 59. He is described as black, standing 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet tall and weighing 220 to 240 pounds.

No injuries were reported. The age of the victim was not immediately known.
