Use voice of the people, not the lawyers

My parents came to America from Ireland in the 1920s. In spite of their meager, third-grade education, they were able to work, save money, buy a home in Chicago with cash, raise three children with a Catholic education, and never take a dollar from the government until they retired and collected Social Security. They lived the American dream. (Two brothers of my father were deported back to Ireland because they had flat feet.)

I believed in America; I was so proud to be American. I would have died for its principles. The Pledge of Allegiance, the Star Spangled Banner - tears of pride would always well up and I would choke. Now the tears well up for a different reason - for all we have lost. Through the years, my trust in America has whittled down.

Since when did a petition need the authorization of a lawyer? The petition represents the voice of the people! I knew nothing of this petition - why stop with Arlington Heights? I want term limits in Illinois, in the entire U.S. How about tort reform, too?
