Naperville man hurt in Palatine motorcycle crash

A motorcyclist was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon when a car struck him near Jewel in Palatine, police said.

The crash happened around 1 p.m. on Hicks Road just south of Dundee Road, Palatine police said in a news release.

A 64-year-old Naperville man was driving his 2012 Harley-Davidson motorcycle north on Hicks Road near Dundee when a 2004 Mitsubishi attempted to turn right onto northbound Hicks Road and struck the motorcycle, police said.

The driver of the motorcycle was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital with life threatening injuries, while the Mitsubishi driver, a 23-year-old Hoffman Estates man, was not hurt.

The condition of the motorcyclist was unknown Thursday morning, but a commander with the Palatine Police Department said his condition had improved overnight.

The crash remains under investigation. No charges have been filed so far.
