Naperville wine fest opening delayed by weather

The opening of the second day of the 12th annual Naperville Wine Festival was delayed two hours by the threat of lightning, but by 6 p.m. the event was packed, one of the organizers said Saturday evening.

The event at CityGate Centre featured 59 wineries, cooking and wine pairing demonstrations, 12 restaurants or food trucks, a Belgian beer cafe and musical entertainment.

Vendors such as Blake Krynicky of Fetzer, a California-based winery, offered a total of 350 wines, choosing some of their most popular pours, flavors to cater to millennial taste buds and classics for more mature wine fans.

Organizers were hoping for attendance of 9,000 people between the two days.
